NONE OF THIS IS TRUE

Dark, creepy and compelling, this psychological thriller is the story of two women who turn 45 years old on the same day, discovering that they are “birthday twins.” Their tenuous connection, which begins by happenstance, eerily begins to expand as Alix agrees to interview Josie, a quiet seamstress, for her popular podcast. Against her better judgment, Alix allows Josie to infiltrate her seemingly perfect life, bringing with her a disturbing background and a web of sinister secrets. Will Alix be seduced by the idea of bringing Josie’s story to light - or will she extricate herself and her family from this mysterious woman and her harrowing history before it is too late?

Just for fun, I scrolled way back to find the last thriller I read. Leave the World Behind, in 2020, and before that, The Girl on the Train, in 2016! So this is a BIT far afield from my usual autumn reads, which involve mugs of tea and charming bookshops and people falling in love under colorful leaves. Even so, I found I couldn’t stop listening to this unputdownable story, especially on audio with a full cast and sound production that made the podcast storyline seem all the more real. If you are like me - not a thriller reader, but wanting a suspenseful page-turner to creep you out for spooky season - this is it, especially on audio! I surprised myself by enjoying this one and definitely recommend.

Here I did a little cover recreation of the scary upside down/right side up houses on the cover, with a deconstructed version of a chocolate cookie haunted house kit. Also just for maximum creepiness, I added some ghoulish Halloween buckeyes from @thefoodnetwork, which were super fun to make and have rice krispies. What is it about candy eyeballs that make everything more fun? I just love them and think I’ll start adding them to everything all year long!
