I loved this smart, fun and delightfully original novel with my whole heart! Margo is a college student who finds herself unexpectedly pregnant. Through a series of unfortunate events, she loses her job, drops out of school and has no means of support. Margo’s mom is a clueless narcissist, and her dad, a former professional wrestler, has been mostly absent since she was a child. By the time Margo’s baby arrives she is in dire financial straits ... until she has a wild idea that is more successful than she could have dreamed. But will it cost her everything that matters most?

What an imaginative, big hearted story! Margo’s winning combination of contradictions made her my favorite character of the summer! She’s frustratingly naive and instinctively savvy, irresponsible and clever, an immature kid and a damn good mom. I loved seeing her relationship with Jinx evolve, awkwardly at times but with respect and love. This book offers a never-preachy reproach to anyone who has judged someone without knowing their character or circumstances. The world needs more books like this one - just loved it all!

Margo is an unabashed Arby’s devotee, and has an unapologetically unhealthy feast there in one adorable scene. Here I made a variation on Arbys burgers, fries and shakes because they’re just cuter than roast beef, don’t you think? Very demure how we eat the Arby’s, we don’t order the whole menu, we’re very mindful, we share, we don’t scarf down our food like some girls, we’re very cutesy.*
