This novel reflects sibling love in all forms - it is uniquely beautiful, consistently complicated, occasionally infuriating, but most of all unconditional. The four Blue sisters live separate lives but have always been connected by an unshakable bond. One year after the passing of steadfast Nicky, everyone’s favorite, the other three must come together to search for a path forward, hoping to find the best in each other and themselves. This book has lovely supporting characters, timely themes and memorable moments made all the more meaningful by the author’s insights. A beautiful exploration of sisterhood!

There is a scene where Bonnie and Pavel share cheesecake at a diner, and she is moved by the joy and sweetness he finds in it, even though it is rather plain. The ability to see the best in something simple is a special quality and one I thought very touching in this character, one of my favorites in the book. Here’s my take on a simple cheesecake, with blueberries of course to stay on theme!
