FUNNY YOU SHOULD ASK

πŸ’— ROMCOM CONFESSIONS πŸ’— You know what today is, so let's talk romances! This one has been on my shelf for months, a bookstagram darling since its debut, so I couldn't wait to dive in and bake some heart shaped treats for Valentine's Day. Chani is a journalist whose very personal feature on movie star Gabe Parker becomes the cornerstone of her career - but leaves her with lingering questions about their brief, whirlwind time together. Ten years later, she reluctantly agrees to reunite for a follow up to that sensational profile, as they reflect on their lives since then and reconcile their feelings for one another.

Gabe, it’s not you, it’s me. Confession: I could not get into this one. I tried! But I've DNFed a few romances this year, which left me wondering if I just don't like love stories? Am I ... an unromantic reader? Feeling confused about what I enjoy in this genre, I considered the romances I've loved, and finally came up with a list for romcom perfection! Small town settings, or city neighborhoods that feel small. Major seasonal vibes. Charm. Quirk! Strong supporting characters that serve a purpose other than to give relationship advice. Imperfect love interests. English audiobook narrators a plus. Ditto book shops, or bake shops. And more! Check out my candy hearts - how many of these are on your list too? I can't wait to find more romcoms this year, now that I know what kinds make my heart happy!

These devils food cakes are so much fun to bake and decorate! I used a @nordicwareusa heart pan and a cake recipe via @williamssonoma . I may not have loved this book, but the cover is adorable and I had a lil party in the baking aisle finding sprinkles and icing to match - even though the best food in this book is a burger with french fries between the meat and bun! (IYKYK) Wishing you a wonderful Valentine's Day filled with cards, flowers, sweets and most of all books! Especially love stories!
