EXCAVATIONS
Happy paperback pub day to EXCAVATIONS! I loved armchair traveling to Greece with this eclectic group of women archaeologists, all hoping to find a career-making discovery on their dig. These female excavators have had their share of rivalries, but when they unearth an unusual artifact, they must form a unified front. Can they outsmart their power-hungry boss to claim this unprecedented relic, and turn history on its head?

Reading this book restored my faith in novels that can be interesting, funny and smart without relying on romance tropes or tragic events. With every chapter I found myself dream casting this story for a mini series - or searching for travel agents who specialize in Greece! This is girl power at its best, as they brush and sift their way to change the narrative of history. Plus, it’s always fun to root against a ridiculously pompous boss-man and hope he gets his comeuppance! This is such a fun read and I can’t wait to see what the author writes next.

If you can get through this story without ordering yourself vast quantities of Greek food then you are a stronger person than I am! I was visualizing this spread from the first chapter and it was such a treat to watch it come to life. I’m lucky to have a Mediterranean market in my town with every ingredient imported from Greece, and I walked out with several bags of groceries (including some amazing baklava that was eaten pre-photos). My takeaway is that everything is better with a sprinkle of feta, drizzle of honey, splash of olive oil - or all of the above!
